Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) was announced by President Bush in August 2004 defining a new policy for the issuance of a standardized credential for all US Federal employees and contractors. At the heart of HSPD-12 is a highly-secure ID card, employing biometric technology and visual security to ensure only authorized persons have access to government facilities and information.

The Little League World Series baseball event was recently held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, USA during August 2004. Curacao defeated Thousand Oaks in the final. The event, for players up to 12 years of age, is the culmination of months of very intensive competition between teams from all over the world. Its importance is confirmed by the fact that it is featured on ABC Sports and ESPN.
